EPIC 50TH ASP TOUR WIN FOR 11-TIME WORLD CHAMPION KELLY SLATER
Huntington Beach, Calif. (September 20, 2012) – Quiksilver’s Kelly Slater made history today by capturing his 50th
 Elite ASP Tour victory at San Onofre State Beach
 in Lower Trestles, CA.  Slater, 40, is the first surfer to achieve 50 
tour wins, and 11 ASP World Titles, accomplishments spanning two decades
 of an unparalleled career during which he has dominated competitive 
surfing as both the youngest and oldest ASP World
 Champion. Slater’s win today marks special significance as it takes 
place on the same beach where he took home his 1st world tour title event 22 yearsago.

In commenting on his 50th
 tour win, Slater said, “I have to thank the fans – not only today, but 
over the years. It’s such a blessing to be surfing at Trestles.” Slater 
continues, “It’s
 cool to win the 50th here. I won my first event as a pro here, and it’s great to get this win.”

Today’s
 competition started with Slater advancing out of the fifth round of the
 Hurley Pro over Jeremy Flores. Slater continued surfing at the top of 
his career beating out Adrian Buchan in the Quarterfinals, and
 surpassing Mick Fanning in the Semifinals. Slater outstretched 
remaining contender, Joel Parkinson in the Finals to collect his 50th tour win culminating a 20+year effort.
