Quiksilver Indonesia and Coca-Cola Amatil Indonesia Receive Partnership Awards from Bali Lifeguards at 40th Birthday Party

31 October 2012, Kuta-Bali:  On Sunday evening October 28th at Kuta Beach during the 40th anniversary celebration party of the Badung Lifeguard’s formation, Febrie Ardianto from Quiksilver Indonesia and Geri Centura from Coca-Cola Amatil Indonesia accepted Balawista Life Saver Partner awards from Badung Lifeguard Coordinator I Ketut Ipel S.H., as well as handed over new uniforms to the lifeguard team.

“We are so very appreciative of all the support we have received from Quiksilver and Coca-Cola Amatil Indonesia over the last few years,” said Ipel.  “Their continued commitment to helping us keep the beaches of Bali safe makes our job easier, and means we can do more.  Thanks so much, Quikilver and Coca-Cola Amatil Indonesia.”

Quiksilver Indonesia and Coca-Cola Amatil Indonesia have been supporting the Badung Lifeguard Department (Balawista Badung) for the last four years, who are now 218 lifeguards strong and on Sunday celebrated their 40thanniversary with a day of competition rounded out by an awards ceremonyattended by many of the original founding members from Australia and Bali.

Together, Quiksilver and Coca-Cola Amatil provide the Badung Lifeguards with uniforms and gear each year that allow them to do their jobs efficiently and effectively, with a retail value of some Rp 500 million (almost $50,000 USD).

“We’re very proud to have this great group of lifesavers wearing our gear like the lifesavers of Australia do also; in particular our board-shorts which is Quiksilver's heritage,  said Quiksilver SEA CEO Paul Hutson, speaking on behalf of Quiksilver and Coca-Cola Amatil.  “The job they do and the responsibility they have are great, so we want to support them as much as we can.  Quiksilver and Coca-Cola Amatil here in Bali and around Indonesia are making the effort to keep the beaches both clean and safe, and I hope other businesses and residents can follow our lead as it benefits not just the tourist sector but the local population as well.”

2012 Coca-Cola Indonesian Surfing Championship Awards Presentation Coming Up at the W Retreat and Spa in Seminyak on 2nd of November

30 October 2012, Kuta-Bali:  The Coca Cola Indonesian Surfing Championship Tour will celebrate its 9th season on the 2nd of November with a formal Championship Awards Presentation at the W Retreat and Spa in Bali’s upscale Seminyak area, with an After Party at the nearby Mantra Restaurant and Bar.

The doors will open for the formal dress code invitation-only dinner at 7:00 pm, with a specially prepared 4-course meal and drinks and a photo/video montage of images and scenes from this year’s surfing competition events, held across Indonesia from West Sumbawa to the Mentawaii Islands of Sumatra and including Phuket, Thailand.

The 2012 Awards Presentation will follow, where Indonesia’s surfing champions will be honored for their outstanding competitive performance and commitment during the 2012 season and receive their trophies and winner’s checks.  Six divisions will crown champions this year as follows:

WOMEN’S DIVISION – YASNYIAR GEA

MASTER’S DIVISION – KETUT JULIARTA

PRO JUNIOR DIVISION – GAZALI HAMZAH

JUNIOR DIVISION – RAJU SENA

LONGBOARD DIVISION – ARIP “MENCOS” NURHIDAYAT

Of special mention is the fact that Yasnyiar “Bonne” Gea has now won her 5^th consecutive Indonesian Women’s title, Arip “Mencos” Nurhidayat is the Longboard Champion for the 2^nd year running, and Ketut Juliarta will receive his 2^nd Masters title.  In addition to the crowning of the champions, other awards and recognition will be given to those individuals, event sponsors, and supporters of the Coca-Cola ISC tour that have made outstanding contributions to the sport of surfing in Indonesia.

Following the close of the Awards Presentation will be the After Party at Mantra presented by Ketel One Vodka, which will start at approximately 11 pm. All are invited to join in and party with Indonesia’s pro surfers, together with the industries and people that support them.

Indonesia’s Top Skater Penavi Perma Signs Head to Toe Contract with DC Indonesia

Jakarta:  DC Indonesia is delighted to announce the signing of Indonesia’s top skater, 25 year old Pevi Permana from Bandung, to a full head-to-toe contract with the world’s most progressive skate and extreme sport brand.

As DC Indonesia’s brand ambassador, not only to Indonesia but to the entire South East Asia region, Pevi will now be fully supported as he will be both competing and putting on skating demonstrations and coaching clinics throughout Indonesia and beyond.

“Pevi has been with DC here in Indonesia since 2009, but only on a shoe contract, so we’re very excited to finally have him with us 100%,” said Quiksilver SEA CEO Paul Hutson.  “He’s not only the Number 1 skater in Indonesia but such a great ambassador for skating and our DC brand as well,working with kids and always leading by example.  DC is experiencing such great reception in the market place and is growing rapidly, so with Pevi leading our DC skate team we couldn’t be more optimistic about the success of DC in our region.” 

Pevi’s list of career accomplishments in Asia’s skating world is a lengthy one, and includes top podium finishes in major national Indonesian skating events such as the recent Open Piero Pro Class Contest in Bandung this year, as well as in competition’s abroad including a 3^rd place finish in the 2007 Indoor X Games Macau-China and a 4^th place finish in the 2010 Extreme Championship Vert Contest in Taiwan.  Pevi has also won Surftime Magazine’s “Skater of the Year Award” three times, in 2007, 2009, and 2010.

“I’m extremely proud to be on the DC team,” said Pevi.  “I’ve always had great support from DC since way back in 2009, and now that I’m 100% a DC skate team member and brand ambassador I’m looking forward to doing lots of cool things in the skate community.  I love competing and I love hanging out with all my skate friends and fans, so this is a dream job for me.  I couldn’t be happier.  Thanks so much to DC!

Pevi recently participated in the South East Asian DC Tour that saw DC skate and BMX pro’s from America and Australia coming to Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand to give demonstrations and coaching clinics as well as attend press conferences and meet-n-greet sessions.  In 2013 there will be another DC Tour, where Pevi will head up a team that will tour major cities around Indonesia, teaching kids to skate, coaching up-and-coming talents, and performing skate demonstrations for his fans and the growing DC fan base.

Pencapaian prestasi Pevi di dunia skate Asia merupakan perjalanan yang panjang, termasuk keberhasilannya mendapatkan top podium di beberapa kompetisi skate tingkat nasional seperti Open Piero Pro Class Contest di Bandung tahun 2012, posisi ke-3 di kompetisi Indoor X games Macau-China tahun 2007, dan posisi ke-4 di Extreme Championship Vert Contest di Taiwan tahun 2010. Pevi juga dinobatkan sebagai “Skater of the Year Award” oleh majalah Surftime tiga kali berturut-turut tahun 2007, 2009, dan 2010.

Pevi ikut bagian dalam DC Tour Asia Tenggara yang diselenggarakan baru-baru ini dimana para DC Pro Skater dan BMX dari Amerika dan Australia datang ke Indonesia , Malaysia, dan Thailand untuk memberikan demo dan coaching clinic yang diikuti dengan press conference serta sesi meet-n-greet. Di tahun 2013 nanti DC Tour juga akan kembali diadakan, dimana Pevi akan membawa tim skate mengunjungi beberapa kota besar di Indonesia, mengajarkan anak-anak untuk skate, melatih calon-calon skater, serta melakukan demo skate untuk para penggemarnya dan penggemar DC.

An online Facebook competition held by O'Neill Indonesia, where contestants had to submit a comment as to why they wanted to win the opportunity to surf with the Californian sensation, the winner to be chosen by Sage herself. Hanging out in Bali  for the ASP Oakley World Pro Junior's, Sage was all too eager to get involved with the Initiative "I've been coming to Bali for years now and have always wanted to get more involved with the beautiful Balinese community here"  said Sage, "I chose Cinta Hansel as the winner as her comment was really inspiring and encouraging as a surfer, we all start young with whatever passion or journey we wish to pursue in life. With Cinta being so young and striving to be a pro, I would love the chance to give back to her and hopefully help her dream come true." "The chance for any aspiring surfer to get an opportunity to spend a day surfing and hanging out  with a pro is a pretty special thing. Whether they're young and aiming for the top or 40 years old and have just begun, to see how these athletes carry themselves both in and out of the water is very inspiring.
