The Rip Curl Surf & Music Festival
2012 kicks off with and evening
with the official Press Conference and the Preview of
Alana Blanchard’s new collection.
Kuta, Bali – Last night the Rip Curl Flagship Store on Sunset Road was definitely the hottest
place to be in Bali. Top femaie pro surfer Alana Blanchard and some of Bali’s top models were
on hand to present Alana’s latest collection aptly named Alana’s Closet. Also leading surfers
on the ISC championship Tour and Top Groms from all over SE Asia gathered to talk about the
final event of the season and the decider of who will be crowned 2012 ISC champ and regional
GromSearch Champion.
The first focus was lying on the three leading surfers of the Indonesian Championship Tour.
Lee Wilson and local boys Pepen Hendriks and Raditya “Cabul” Rondi told the interested
crowd how the want compete at the last stop of the Tour in small but perfect waves forecast
for this weekend event scheduled to take place at Kuta Beach, Halfway.
Wilson who is currently in the number one spot leading into this event commented – I’m going
into this event prepared for a hard fight to take that title, I’ve been watching Raditya surfing
Halfways over the last few days and seen that he is linking some great combination turns
together so I’m expecting that he is going to be very tuff to beat.
Beside the Indonesia’s Top pros,, the best under 16 surfers in SE Asia got their chance to speak.
Introduced by Rip Curl’s Pro Surfer Dedi Gun the Groms told the crowd what they can expect from
them at the SE Asia Rip Curl GromSearch Final to be held in conjunction with the Surf & Music Festival.
Sumbawa regional champion and Rip Curl team rider - Andre Anwar was there and commented;
Its great to be in Bali surfing with the best groms from all over the region, we have been taking
part in a training camp this week provided by Rip Curl to prepare us for the weekend, I’m pumped
to surf in the finals and the waves are looking like they will be really fun.

What can you expect of such beautiful person like Alana, when she is getting the chance to create
her own collection? The answer is easy – beautiful pieces. Alana took to the stage for a question
and answer session joined by Rip Curl’s designers from Australia and Bali to talk about what she
is doing in Indoensia and the inspirations behind her new collection.
I worked on this new collection in my home of Hawaii last year with the designers from Rip Curl
and am so stoked to see the final creations arriving in stores just now.
When asked what her inspirations for her new range were, she added; We set out to design some
Bikinis that were all about function and fit, this new range is comfortable but sexy to wear in all
conditions -weather its in the water surfing, on the beach relaxing with your friends, or going out
on the town in one of the dresses, this range should have you covered.
After the presentation of her new collection, Alana took the time to sign posters and smile into
the camera together with her fans.
The evening came to a close with the World Premiere of the Rip Curl Cup Padang Padang 2012 movie which
was shown to the eagerly waiting crowd on a giant screen.
