The bill for 2012's road repairs in Bali will be 143 billion rp. That's a lot of cash even if a rupiah isn't worth much. Much of this money has to be spent to patch up roads that were made or patched up only a year ago.
Solution to all this is to build roads properly the first time. Block off 1 lane for a whole day, use the proper amount of tarmac, proper amount of tar to stones, let it set, roll it properly and don't cheat on the thickness. Then the roads will last 5 years before needed repairs.
