KUALA LUMPUR, 28 MAY 2012 – Quiksilver and
Roxy Malaysia has unveiled an all-new store concept on the 26th May
2012 in Mid Valley Megamall. The new relocated store, Ground Floor (G-049 &
G-050) features the Best of Boardriding with its one of a kind store for
shoppers to experience a distinct feeling of shopping with Quiksilver and Roxy.
The store was officially opened by Mr Daniel
Yong; Executive Director of Mid Valley Megamall, Ms Rennie Lee; General Manager
of Mid Valley Megamall, Mr KC Choo; CEO of Urban Surf Sdn Bhd and Mr
Christopher Choo; Director of Urban Surf Sdn Bhd.
The new store is generated with a fresh and
innovative concept, which implies the brand’s original core of boardriding. It is
a unique store, which offers a complete product range and technical hardware to
the growing community of surfers and skaters in Malaysia.
Quiksilver & Roxy Malaysia had also
invited Mr Markus Gneist, founder and surfboard shaper from Journey Board for
the official opening. Markus was invited to share his knowledge in surfing and
how to choose the right surfboard for oneself. He also brought along a
balancing board for everyone to try for a taste of surfing.
During the grand opening, Quiksilver &
Roxy Malaysia had a special one-day only opening promotion (Buy 2 Free 2) storewide
for customers and those who purchased with a Citibank credit card received a
free Quiksilver Eco bag. Games and activities such as lucky draw were held
throughout the day and customers walked away with amazing prizes such as
Quiksilver watches, Skullcandy headphones and Sunway Lagoon tickets.
The Director of Marketing, Catherine Chin
added that, “The store will be a one stop for boardriding lifestyle enthusiast
to get their favourite apparels and hardware. Quiksilver & Roxy Malaysia
had come a long way with 17 years of history rooted in building the boardriding
lifestyle. We are honoured to be able to continue to do so through our retail experiences
and organizing boardriding contest and activities in Malaysia.”
Back in 1995, Quiksilver shook up the world
of surfing and created a huge stir when it opened what was then a surf concept
shop in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, which is a non-surfing country. Seventeen years
later, Quiksilver created history again with their full surf shop concept store
in Mid Valley Megamall.
Quiksilver & Roxy intends the new shop to
be a living, breathing environment dedicated to surfing, art and fashion -
original, authentic and welcoming. The whole idea was to create a unique and
original environment, by adopting an unusual approach to interior design that
involved the combination of wood, metal and cement materials to allow the
customers to shop in comfort with an ambience of the core lifestyle elements.
Right from the entrance, the scene is set with a wall of screens with video
from the best boardriding scene is set to welcome customers into their store.
With a sales area covering some 7,150 square
feet, the new site will offer boardsports enthusiasts with the widest product
range from Quiksilver and Roxy to be found anywhere in Asia. This large space
is dedicated in offering technical gear, surfboards, skateboards, kids, eyewear
and watches plus two open plan spaces offering the Quiksilver men’s and women’s
Roxy lines.
This store will also introduce the Quiksilver
Premium line for men and Quiksilver Women line for women; an offering for the
more mature customers. The space inspired by the beach houses of Long Island
using wood sandblasted by sea air, vintage furniture and Asian carpets
collected on far away travels.
There is also a café with a chilling
atmosphere that’s just perfect for hangouts individually or with friends, and
exploring the collections, meeting riders, having a coffee or checking your
emails. But there are plenty more surprises in store to be discovered by
everyone – let the sea set you free !
