New Years Eve in Bali is often pretty raucous. The combo of young drunk locals, drunken tourists, crazy traffic and abundent fireworks means the beach areas are pretty much a free for all. Take a look at this video clip shot at a Seminyak bar on a previous NYE.
To anticipate the severe congestion in the tourist area of Kuta, Bali Police will enforce a “Car Free Night” on New Year’s Eve. All of Jalan Legian and Jalan Pantai Kuta will be closed on Monday (New Year’s Eve) starting at 4pm.
Residents and tourists wanting to spend New Year’s Eve in Kuta will be directed to Central Parkir and other parking areas that exist in and around Kuta. From there, residents can head to the beach by foot.
There will be 73 security points with 212 police personnel controlling New Year’s Eve around the tourist areas of south Bali. The previous plan of the “Car Free Night” in Bali was to apply to three areas, namely Kuta, Nusa Dua, and Renon. However, after reviewing the various aspects of the exercise, Kuta was the only area selected, just as in previous years.
