Bali is becoming expensive

Bali is becoming expensive. Gone are the days where an expat could paint a couple of pictures a week and survive. Now we're talking about thousands of dollars a year to survive.

The idea that a westerner can come to a place like Bali, rent a cheap motorbike and go live in a village for $2 a day is just not realistic anymore. Westereners are creatures of habit and like the same things they had access to back home...pizza, beer, sports on TV, party action etc. The village life and culture is more of an enticing fantasy than a reality.

Life in Kuta /  Seminyak has gotten expensive, not just the alcohol, but the food, visa extensions, rent, land, building materials. Seems the world has gone crazy and we'll see who can swim and who sinks!
