Isotonic drinks in Bali

The hot and humid climate in Bali often takes visitors by surprise, leaving them hot, sweaty and feeling worn out. A big part of the reason for the tired feeling is dehydration. Simply drinking water is not enough to ward off the effects of dehydration, you need to supplement your salt intact and one of the best ways is to drink an isotonic beverage at least once a day.

Isotonic drinks available in Bali include Pocari Sweat, Gatorade, Vita Zone and Mizone.

Pocari Sweat is made in Indonesia and licenced from a Japanese company. A very good isotonic that will revive you instantly. 480ml will cost 6,500rp

Gatorade is the traditional American isotonic created at the university of Florida to help its football team, the Gators, in the Florida heat.  480ml will cost 6,000rp. A pretty good isotonic but not as strong as Pocari.

Vita Zone is an Indonesian made isotonic that comes in 4 fruit flavours. 480ml will cost 3,500rp. The lemon flavor is similar lemon Gatorade but not as tasty.

Mizone is an Indonesian version of an isotonic that comes in 3-4 flavours.  If you like the taste of Red Bull you’ll like this stuff.  480ml costs 3,500rp

Conclusion:  Pocari gives you the most bang for your buck, Gatorade is decent, Mizone is its poor brother and Mizone is pretty disgusting.
